WATCH THE FILM HERE:

These are some production photos from the making of my newest film "Dibujar" which means "To Draw" in English (I'm the one in the green polo). Most if the film was animated on a whiteboard with dry erase markers at 18 FPS. The whole thing took about 9 weeks from concept to final cut. The animation took up most of that time; we worked at least 2 hours a day, 5 days a week for around 7 weeks.
I did most of the animating; Huan Manton (age 15, pictured above in the white shirt) was assistant animator, and Dylan Relue (age 15, pictured above kicking me in the face) helped with some background animation. It was a long tedious process, and after hours in the soundstage, it was inevitable that we would stop taking pictures of us working and start taking pictures of us jumping in the air and throwing markers at each other.

MORE FUN FACTS:
• filmed with 1 Sony VX 2100 connected via firewire to a Mac with iStopmotion
• we used at least 10 expo markers (6 of them were blue)
• edited with Final Cut Pro
• the little kid wouldn't stop picking his nose.
• I am 17, Huan, Dylan and Brady (not pictured, he helped with some sound stuff) are 15
• The music is "Look Into the Sky" by Explosions in the Sky

If you want to know anything else, just ask.

ALSO: This will be showing at the Denver School of the Arts Video Cinema Arts Department film festival on Dec. 11th and 12th. If you can come, you totally should.

No, seriously, this is not something you want to do.
Don't make the same mistake I did.
It will waste your time.
You WILL feel foolish for clicking it.
:iconnewtmaster:
Er, that's "guessING". Heh.

Kind of, yes. I'd seen that video a while ago and have since then wanted to try animating using a whiteboard.
This project gave us the chance to do that, so we went for it. We came up with the metaphor/story from there.
:iconnewtmaster:
Well, I'd say it did the medium justice.
